AIFF vs ALE
« on: 3 Sep 2016, 01:34 pm »
I did a search of the forum and couldn't find anything on this topic.  I'm looking at the Pi or bdp-2 into the bda-2.  For playback sound quality which is one is better than the other for SQ?  Or which one should I be using.  Thanks Mike

We've (or at least I have) discussed this a few times in the past year on this forum with regards to formats (AIFF, ALAC, WAV, FLAC) on BDP-1.

Some people find a difference between compressed and uncompressed, while others do not. However, I have yet to find someone that prefers compressed over uncompressed for sound quality. So IMO, go with uncompressed and don't worry about it. I go with WAV personally. There's also AIFF for uncompressed. Take your pick.
