Friday 11/26 works for me, I was thinking either 11/26 or 11/27 as I have prior committments on sunday.  Are we doing this at Jeff's?   I'd considering hosting this, but I don't know if my system will be ready in time.  The RM/x's arrive on tuesday, the dehavillands later next week.

Not sure if there is any interest in adding a low-cost alternative, but thought I'd offer.  I have a Bolder Cables Mensa ART DI/O that I could add to the mix.  It is currently posted for sale, but I could put that on hold if there is interest for this listening session.  Also, on a related note, I just ordered a Margules ADE 24 analog digital enhancer.  Not a DAC, but somewhat related in that its purpose in life is to make digital sound better.  The following link has a review of the product (go to the English portion, then reviews).  http://www.margules.com.mx/home.htm

MD,

I thought you were "unwilling to spend" that much to mod the P-3A?

One very nice thing about the modded P-3A is that it is much more adjustable, compared to the Dodson...so you can tailor the sound to your tastes and system. 8)

shokunin,

I'm glad to hear your speakers are finally going to arrive. Have you figured out what amps you're going to go with?

All right, guys.  Let's throw out some dates.

I happen to be not working on 11/26 Fri (day after Thanksgiving)  and
11/28 Sun.

I've now decided I'm going to update my digital front-end and will be needing a smokin' DAC to go with possibly PC-based source..

i'm not sure Fri 11/26 or Sun 11/28 will work becuz the owner of the Dodson 218 DAC is going to be out of town...i'll ask to see if maybe he'll be willing to allow us to borrow it while he is away. also, i need to check to see if i have any family obligations that weekend as well...

the owner of the 218 did mention that he can host at his place or bring the 218 down to my place for a Dec. 4th listening session...

if we can get the 218 for thanksgiving and i don't have any family commitments, my preference would be Sat 11/27 as well...

jswallac,

thanks for offering...if this happens at Jeff's place, i think we're going to have way too much gear w/ the Dodson 218, Dodson 263 and EA modded P-3/A DACs as well as a variety of of other electronics and cables...of course if others show alot of interest in this DAC, then i'm all for you bringing it down...

12/4 would work for me, but not 12/5.

Maybe by then Shokunin will have RM-X set up better even..

By the way, do you like the PowerChords so far (say compared to Eichmann)?

I personally find them too euphonic, but maybe one or two in a system won't be too much..

Jon L,

I've been listening to the Audience PowerChords the past few days and I can definitely see where more than a few might be too euphonic. I've found that 3 of them in my system gives a gloriously open, relaxed and natural sound...it is an excellent cable just like the Eichmann but different in presentation.
