I had a Z pre for awhile and as small pre it was very good. The Emotiva DC-1 can also be used as a pre but only has on analog input. That new Emotiva PT-100 though looks very nice for the price. I just wish they would make a smaller form factor one with the same functionality.

I'd recommend something really cheap and really good. This $35 Sain Smart from Amazon is practically plug and play.
