Who has been before?  Did you have a good experience?

I did the Hamfest at Kirkwood Community Center a few years back. There really wasn't much there in terms of audio or tubes. Most of the HAM gear they had for sale was solid state. I think I only saw one or two tubed recievers (short wave). They had plenty of parts, masts and antenna plus a few other 'gizmos'.

After attending that one, I sorta wrote it off. Collinsville might be different...you never know....unless you go  :D

Kyle, if you go, please give me a report. I would like to pick up tubes, but if they don't have any, wasting two hours and $10 isn't cheap.

My sentiments exactly.

Scott, are you one of the members with a personal tube stockpile?
Maybe I can find a coupon off the $10 entry..

Dave, please see this.

There are some old 45 tubes along with other rarities.

I think the accurate terminology is tube hoarder. :D

Kyle,
That online estate auction of the RCA et cetra collector that started yesterday and runs for 2 weeks has the coolest photos, with each item having 1 or 2 dozen photos.
I love the circuit BOARD in http://schulmanauction.hibid.com/lot/23223416/1923-atwater-kent-4560-model-10a-breadboard/?sort=2&ref=catalog photos #16 through 24.
Nothing I’m interested in, but it is a fascinating bit of history.   Though picture #8 of http://schulmanauction.hibid.com/lot/23223417/1925-26-rca-radiola-26-reflex-portable-receiver/?sort=2&ref=catalog is just the coolest antenna.  I love the two headphone jacks in the front and I distinctly remember seeing a print advertisement of this or a similar radio advertised showing a couple on a hill side with a picnic basket and two headphones plugged in to a radio.  Plus the station selector indicator, photo #6, qualifies as steampunk.
I have never heard of a speed tester that is based on measuring centripetal/centrifugal force! http://schulmanauction.hibid.com/lot/23223542/1920s-hmv-instantaneous-speed-tester/?sort=2&ref=catalog
The cactus needles and the needle sharpeners just shows us how far we have come in less than 100 years.

Hamfests are for hams. It's very unlikely to find anything of interest to an audiophile.
