I got a chance to see The Martian last night, for me it was a little boring. I caught myself dozing
off a couple of times in the theater which is surprising for me.  I felt disconnected with the
characters for some reason. Not a total wash but I thought it could have been better.

There was a very important life lesson, never give up, even if things don’t look so good.

Better than"Castaway"... but IMO that's not a high bar to clear.

I though it is an excellent movie, my friend was on the edge of her seat (literally) all through the 2nd half. I read the book so I was more relaxed. The movie is a faithful adaptation of the book but left out a lot of good stuff. Everyone I know read the book in 2 days because it is a page turner, well written, and an easy read.

I've been slogging through the book now for about two weeks.  Maybe longer.  It's good, but has a lot of detail in it.  I think it's OK.

I loved it!  Lots of my favorite actors, great effects and a suspenseful story.  They took great pains to make the science as plausible as they could (while still telling a story) and it shows.  One of my favorite films of the year.
