Am interested in the pro Antelope Pure 2 and have read lots of comments about how great a product this is for sound engineers. As I only want to use it as a dac and an ad converter for my vinyl collection, all I am really interested in is how it and antelope dacs in general sound. My brother in law is a very experienced sound engineer, but I honestly wouldn't trust his opinion about SQ based on our discussions, his use of cabling etc. so everyone pls chime in, but from more of an audiophile perspective
Thanks,
Nick

Ha ha!  That's like the food critic who doesn't trust the cook's opinion on proper seasoning and spices...not that there aren't bad cooks and/or sound engineers!

The Antelope AD/DAs are highly rated, but that's by the pro users, so take it for what it's worth.  The Black Lion Sparrow, and UAD Apollos are also highly rated.  I haven't had personal experience with any of those products (I've only owned and used Black Lion's preamps, which are top quality and sound)...but when it's time for me to upgrade, they'll all be on my short list.

Yes, interesting analogy regarding the food critic  I finally decided on an Antelope Audio Gold with Volticus ps. A couple of guys I know have Antelope dacs and love 'em. Also, I can use the Antelope as a passive preamp. Should be a great match for my McCormack amp DNA 1 Gold.
