My Sony SCD CE775 is starting to have problems reading some discs. My brand new SanFrancisco Symph rec. of Mahler's 4th makes the Sony groan and grind trying to read the thing and 9 times out of ten won't play it. Also, CR-Rs give it fits at times. So I am in the market for a new SACD CD player.

Does anyone know of a player that plays both HDCD and SACD (also redbook, obviously)? I haven't seen one that does this combo.

The new Denon 3910 universal player plays CD/HDCD/SACD and DVD-V/DVD-A.  You can find it online for as low as $1k.

The new Denon 2910 also plays all formats (SACD, DVD-A) along with HDCD encoded disks.  It is quite a bit cheaper.
