Tires 315/75R16
« on: 20 Sep 2015, 01:25 am »
School me.  Anyone run big tires?
Thinking of BF Goodrich KO2's.  What kind of mileage should I get out of them?  Are there lower cost options I should consider?
This is new territory for me so I thought I'd see if anyone else has been there done that.
Thanks

I'm running 265-75/16 Michelin LTX M/S 'E' range on a Yukon XL, and will get over 100,000 miles on the tread life.
As far as I'm concerned, I will buy and install nothing but Michelin on the vehicles in my household. I've been in the auto industry for 25+ years, and have been on tire specific "hands-on" driving courses over the years and have seen the difference.

The LTX M/S is a bit less aggressive than the KO2 you're looking at, and frankly, I've been out of the loop on truck tires for several years, so I'm not sure what's out there now-a-days. But Michelin does make (I believe) a LTX A/T2, that should be comparable to the BFG you're looking at. Granted, I'm making assumptions at this point, but..... you get the point.

Good luck, have fun, and "truck on"!  :thumb:

Thanks Bob.  I just put a set of LTX M/S2's on my truck last week.  So far so good.

Looking for the "aggressive" look yet decent tread life for a "fun" truck.

Installed Tuesday.  A lot nicer than my ride when I was 15.  FREEEEDOOOM!! in three more months.  I'm talking about me, so I don't have to take him everywhere.
1999 F250 Super Duty, 155K miles, Cherry Bomb, almost everything works.  New coils, runs smooth and drives much better than with the old tires.  Will need some front control rods this winter.  Entry level Pioneer head unit with 5x7's in the doors.  Would love to add a bazooka type sub down the road.  It's a pain in the ass to get into but a little less to get out.  I was told "nerf bars are for old people, Dad."
Dog added for size comparison.  :)

GB,     His name is Spock, got him as a stray and he has really big ears.  Good dog.

Bob, my truck has bars, 10 years ago, when I wasn't younger.  Now I need a rear bumper with a step built in.  :icon_lol:
