Sorry we did not mention any order, didn't want to appear to be a know it all, or appear to belittle you Scott. Besides that, I do not believe it makes any difference. Just measure plate voltages and one would soon find the problem stage, or power supply.

No problem, and you can safely assume that my electronic knowledge is pretty near zero.
However, we now move on the next issue. I've got to find a new volume pot... so on to the next topic here in the Lab.

 Well it's been a while since an update.  The first amp wasn't quite as trouble free as I thought, and it took pro Charlie Cocci to help find the problem. 
Mostly, I want to thank all the guys that offered advice on this project.  I finally got around to finishing the second amp today, and they sound just as good as the one's that Gary Dodd built.  That 6bq5 tube is hard to beat for tone, and separates are hard to beat for imaging and soundstage.
