Introducing Speaker Snakes! (TM)

These MEASURE better at 25W into 8 ohms, compared to 12 gauge GLS Ox-free copper thin-strand cable with identical terminations.  The test result below was done using a KING Maraschino Desktop Amp as the source, connected to an 8 ohm load through 6 feet of speaker wire.  Significantly lower distortion in the critical 7.5kHz to 12kHz range can be seen clearly in this graph (bottom trace is with SPKR_SNAKE, top trace is 12 gauge wire with the same terminations)....

Our new Speaker Snakes are Speaker Wire Done Right.  These braided beauties have low capacitance and low resistance to preserve signal quality to the speaker.  They are flexible and just feel right.  Terminated with your choice of plain bananas (as shown), locking bananas (as used in our hanging Maraschino cables), or heavy-duty spade lugs.

Email Support@DigitalAmp.com if interested.  We haven't added this product to our web site yet, but we do have some in stock.  For a limited time, get a stereo pair FREE when purchasing a new Maraschino Amp!  We also have a deal for those buying demo amp sets.  Thanks for taking a look.

Is the Y Axis percent?  What scaling?

Yes, Major divisions are 10x.

What is the parallel capacitance and series inductance per foot or per meter and is your braided multi-conductor cable also 12 gauge equivalent?

Actually, 13 ga.  ....Will get back to you regarding measurements.  The bottom of the graph is 0.0001%, by the way.  Thanks.

Well, measuring the low capacitance on EITHER cable will apparently require a better meter.

Regarding inductance, we plan to measure this next week, once again because the values are quite small.  Theoretical inductance of the 12 gauge control sample is about 1uH.  We expect to be lower, but is this what's giving us better measurements with the Speaker Snakes?  We need to investigate more to "certify" that conclusion.

The bottom line is that the Speaker Snakes are flexible and much nicer to deal with than "big fat cable".  The advantage on simple resistance goes to the 12 gauge control sample since we are essentially at 13 gauge.  However, this amounts to a very small difference in total cross sectional area (less than 4 mils squared!).

For reference, the simple resistance over 12 feet (round trip):
    12 gauge ---- 0.019Ω
    13 gauge ---- 0.023Ω

Theoretical capacitance of the 12 gauge control sample is less than 40pF, not enough to be significant, and the meter reads about the same for our Speaker Snakes.

We believe Speaker Snakes are a great way to get that "just a touch better" performance out of the Maraschino Amplifier at a more reasonable cost than available alternatives.

Thanks for reading this.

Interesting --they look like Belden 4947 or 497 II cables as favoured by the Vintage Guys

The initial terminations looked better. The speaker connectors now look like those Chinese Nakimichi knock-offs. I bought a pair from Amazon for $9 and they on par with the price.

How many wire companies show a performance graph?  The terminations aren't wasting cash but still perform as well as the best of the best!
