I got to chime in here a second.

If you think an MSD electronic ignition with a magnet distributor is less dependable than a points distributer...  :duh:

There's new TBI systems that get extensively better gas mileage than carburetors.

I miss Demon carbs because any idiot can work on them, and they ran great. They're like what Holley's should've been. Sadly everyone preferred to save a minor amount of money so they aren't around no more. And why people buy edlebrock carbs I'll never know.

If I had to choose? I guess it depends on the situation and system. In a perfect world I think good carbs are fun and petrol isn't a problem. Tuning old engines is much more interesting than all the new stuff. While I enjoy many aspects of new engine stuff, no matter how fast it is, it's lost touch with the user.
