Favorites:

We get to hear many drivers & enclosures… building most of them.

Hard to choose just 3… the not so good ones don't stick around.

The uFonkenSET with FF85wKen (althou performance in the bass improves in the Frugel-Horn Lite, but still limited)



The Frugel-Horn Mk3 with Alpair7.3eN (i prefer copper drivers, and that this design spawned the larger Frugel-Horn XL, and the smaller Frugel-Horn Lite). This box design has proven very versatile with a new personality just with a change of drivers. The medium one in the picture, here with FE126eN^2.



The FonkenPrime with FE127eN^2 (here in maple with FE127eN), not the best, but it was the forerunner of a very broad set of decedents that on the whole are outstanding speakers.



It will be noted that the drivers are all EnABLed, which jumps the entire system up a level in performance.

Since imaging is very important to me I would not consider anything larger than 4" on a narrow baffle. Going from a 4" to a 6" is just too much of a hit on the soundstage. Individual instruments become larger and flatter with less sense of space between them. That's only if you have the speakers properly set up with at least 4' behind them. I personally like at least 10', 12' being my favorite.

Not easy finding a room big enough to allow 10 - 12 feet behind the speakers.  I prefer near-field setups (removes as much of the room effects as possible).  4 inch drivers are too small IME as mid/bass body ("meat on the bones") is lost (subwoofers can't help).  But I agree in the importance of imaging.

This FF85K datasheet inform the treble response goes to 125,000Hz.
This is a typo or this response is out of phase etc??

That has to be a typo. All the ones i have say 32k. The new FF85wk says 25k. Their HF response is quite exemplary but for a rise with the FF85k.
