I don't think so. Apple doesn't own the letter "i." They may own the rights to using it as the prefix in a name, though.

GRiD is a cool name.

Maybe GRIDD would be better as it is a unique spelling of the word "grid."

I wouldn't make the "i" lower case or a different color. They're not making i devices. It'd be misleading to follow Apple's graphic design language.

What could the "I" in GRIDD mean, though?
Maybe it doesn't have to mean anything at all. Lots of names to things are just made-up to sound good. The automotive industry is good at coming up with unique names.......(well, except for maybe many of the European brands. They just use letters and numbers most of the time.)

Playing with "i"'s is just tacky. For what reason would you want people that purchase far above the $1k mark, to overlook the gear because of silliness? But GRIDD sounds nice, better than just Grid; even if it's awfully close to DODD.

Hages-Dass?? :D

That's funny. What most don't know is that Haagen-Dazs is actually an entirely made up AMERICAN brand name (that intentionally sounds Danish). VERY interesting brand story, which still successfully carries-on today.

What we like so far.

Pacemaker: Plays on Gary as he has a built in pacemaker now. But doesn't make one think of high end audio.

Current Designs: Plays on the DC current idea.

Revive: Covers Gary's resurrection and the reviving of the audio industry with real affordable high end gear.

Pulse, Pulse Designs, or Pulse Audio: Has a good sound and feel that also plays on the pulse of a heartbeat or signal pulse.

X-Audio: Has a known and well accepted sound to it. But is not really related to anything.

Volt or Volt Audio: It also has a strong and sharp name to it, but only really relates to the DC voltage used for the gear.

Resurgence: Says something about Gary's comeback, but doesn't really have a high end audio feel about it.

Sound Candy: I love the name. It makes me want to say it over and over. It really does nail what this gear really is. And it says what it is.

And the name doesn't have to say Audio. That part is a given.

Maybe the phoenetic spelling would be interesting :

KƏN-ˈFEK-SHƏN
kən-ˈfek-shən

......just doesn't roll off the tongue.

Polling the young people in my life (21-25 years old) they liked
Current Design
Volt or Volt Audio
And
Resurgence

All three thought that ear candy was a lot like skull candy.  And agreed with the post  by RDavidson when I scrolled down.

I still like G. D. Amps, but, ...

I thought why reinvent the wheel?
I found this in a 6moons review of one of your preamps.

"Bill loves to listen for the color. "The only time I can visualize colors is when I hear music," he added. In BillSpeak, that's code for "I want to listen to more music." "
http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/dodd/dodd.html

So how about,
           The Color of Music

And totally out of context, from Garry's hand (the very last line, second page of the same review)

Two Lives (it's abstract, but friendly)

A little tweek - "Off the GRiD Audio" - an homage to GR Research and Dodd with the capital letters. Feature a logo with the small "i" in a different color than the GR and D.

edit:
you could play up the "i" to the Apple crowd, and incorporate the old GR and Dodd logos.

Another real good one!

What we like so far.

Pacemaker: Plays on Gary as he has a built in pacemaker now. But doesn't make one think of high end audio.

Current Designs: Plays on the DC current idea.
     Pretty close to: www.currentaudio.com/

Revive: Covers Gary's resurrection and the reviving of the audio industry with real affordable high end gear.
Name of a pro sound supplier

Pulse, Pulse Designs, or Pulse Audio: Has a good sound and feel that also plays on the pulse of a heartbeat or signal pulse.
Name of a music server/player for ubuntu

X-Audio: Has a known and well accepted sound to it. But is not really related to anything.
     meh...

Volt or Volt Audio: It also has a strong and sharp name to it, but only really relates to the DC voltage used for the gear.
Maybe - Pretty close to Volti Audio and Volt Loudspeakers

Resurgence: Says something about Gary's comeback, but doesn't really have a high end audio feel about it.
Resurrection Audio Design ?  =   RAD

Sound Candy: I love the name. It makes me want to say it over and over. It really does nail what this gear really is. And it says what it is.
And the name doesn't have to say Audio. That part is a given.
Hmmm. Does that address the tech savvy buyer you are looking for?

It is really easy to come up with a name.  Finding one that does not violate trademarks or error (confusion) through common usage is not.  Names have to be vetted through web searches and I don't mean just "google it!"  Wayne Parham and I ran into an issue between Pi Speakers and PI audio group.  Completely different in origin.  His is "Pi" as in 3.14159... or radiation characteristics and mine is an abbreviation for "Politically Incorrect" due to the subjective nature of my business.  His says "Speakers" and mine says "audio group".  I had been using PI audio group since 1993, but when Wayne called and said that there had been confusion among the public, we agreed that a simple period after the "P" and the "I" would suffice. No issues and we both saved money.

Remember: 90% of web searches are done with the key words ONLY and dealing with attorneys is a PITA

Just saying'...
