When your 12V SLA battery is fully charged, it is usually around 13.2V. I do not recommend you use any voltage above 13.2V (as mentioned in the Tripath datasheet).
If you put a AA battery in series, it will probably degrade the performance due to the addition of a higher series resistance.
So, when using a 13.8V batteri it would actually be a 15V one when fully charged? I guess 15V wouldn't kill it but it might overheat?
I have 88db speakers, would I gain more by upping the voltage than people with 100db speakers? Ofcouse, 13.2V is probably enough.
I'm not sure that there is any real gain of using more voltage than that.
One more thing, is there any point in using thicker wire than this?
Maybe about 2mm^2? should be fine.
Anyhow, will measure battery voltage after fully charging it.
EDIT:
Ladida, burned my poor Sonic Impact, coupled the polarity wrong after improving the battery cable on the picture.
Bzzzzt! *smoke*
I don't think it's usable now?
So, remember, positive in center, negative around the barrel is correct.
But how could I have know I was wrong?
