By the way the only App that looks like it "might" work is on the APP page sent earlier on this thread.

https://itunes.apple.com/US/app/id293235450?mt=8

Its 5 bucks and will likely read the hard drive off the DLNA networking, however whether it will actually be stable or work seems to be a problem as everybody reviewed this App says its terrible because it rarely works, but likely will work. If its crap then its not worth it anyway is the issue.

JRace,

(no offence intended) for sure... But I hate to say you should read the thread. It was linked in the first post what the Yamaha unit is :
I must be blind, i can only see a link to the BD not the AVR you are using.

You can try the Kinsky App

JRace,

No I don't think your missing anything, there is no link to an AVR because there is no AVR in the system.

Instead it is a Yamaha blu ray player which plays USB, FLAC, and is DLNA compatible as shown in the link. The only mention of an AVR was that the Yamaha Media player APP will work supposedly with some of the Yamaha AVR models, but will not work with the Blu Ray players for whatever reason. Hence the reason this thread was started to see if there was any 3rd party Apps opposed to Yamahas in order to access the FLAC drive via DLNA standard just like any other DLNA device vs. Yamahas app which apparently will not work with this unit allowing that function directly.

Thanks

It has an HDMI connected to a 60" LED display which with it turned on there is no problem getting the FLAC hard drive files up, running, listed, and ready to select whatever you want to hear from the Yamaha. Problem is I am attempting to not have to always turn this TV on, and was looking for a solution to run a DLNA based app in order to get the selection on a tablet vs. large Flat panel turned on.

If you are familiar with units that do this such as the Oppo that's what we are trying to accomplish if possible with the DLNA based Yamaha blu ray player.

As for Audio its output is being connected via RCA directly into the Tube Preamp running the audio system which obviously has zero effect on any choices here, sound is not a problem, getting a display interaction without having to run the server on the large tv is.
