No, CD data rate is 1411 kbps

(16 bit X 44,100 sample rate X 2 channels = 1,411,200 bits per second)

Streaming rate is not the same as a recordings bit depth or sample rate.  Two different measurements.  1.4mbps is just fast enough though.

Yes Charles, that is a USB cable. I continue to ask what was it that had you stumped.  What had me stumped was that he owned a laptop and a USB DAC yet you were sending down a path to convert HDMi to optical, etc.  When I brought up good ole' USB you sent a message scratching your head.  I'm simply re-asking: why?

Yes, that is their website. 

What I said was they are losslessly streaming many of their albums (about 50%), and that you can access it via many different players.  On your laptop just connect a USB cable to your DAC (assuming you have a driver for your Windows platform, but a default driver may work too, try it first).  Then use their browser player (Google Chrome one is only Tidal web player that currently does lossless, or what they call HIFI) and under the player settings make sure it sees your Windows DAC driver, or set it to direct sound and see what happens.

I have not used this service, but it looks interesting to me. Maybe someone with experience will chime in. Both HDTracks and Pono are unattractive to me for different reasons. Using Spotify now, but it has limitations even though the catalog is large and the GUI is nice.

HDtracks and Pono are shopping sites...stores for buying music, not a streaming site like Spotify or Tidal.  Most streaming sites will be lossless in a year, and probably be streaming hirez PCM and DSD within 2.  Tidal is slightly ahead at this point.  Let's hope Jay Z (the new owner) keeps it going.

Tidal sound quality is outstanding. I could never go back to Spotify (which I've always hated anyway). Tidal does have random dropouts time to time though.

This is not a fault and will not be disabled.
YT also use it, it is the annoying ''sput' to 'avoid' recordings of users.

Listening to Tidal as we speak, streaming it from my iPhone to my Apple TV. It does indeed sound better than Spotify. The streaming isn't as rock solid as Spotify's, and the music selection on Spotify is way bigger, so I have both (Tidal and Spoify Premium). Yeah, that's a lot of cash per month on subscriptions (I also have Qello, which I love), but what can I say? I didn't drop all this money on a kick ass hifi not to have lots and lots of good music to listen to.

My system looks like this now (just picked up the ML sub today, cheap!):

Streaming (Tidal or Spotify premium) -> Apple TV -> DSPeaker Dual Core DAC/Proc -> Emo x100A (temporary amp) -> Soundfield Audio SAM1 + Martin Logan Grotto servo sub

I'll have to have both subscriptions for a while too, until Tidal can surpass Spotify in size (or unless Spotify steps up their stream quality).
