Coming next (in just a few days) is a new LIO video shoot, were you'll see LIO's front panel in action, and example installation
of LIO's DSD/PCM DAC module, and a brief, animated diagram of how LIO's PURE-DC-4EVR ultracapacitor power supply works
(using a water flow analogy).   

As for a production update - WE ARE SHIPPING the first handful of LIOs on Monday (as long as the next 12" of snow that we are getting is
cleared by then), and another handful by the end of next week.  From there, every week we'll be building / shipping more LIO's from the
Pre-Order queue, as well as a few review units to get things started! 

To all our Pre-Order customers who have been patiently waiting - THANK YOU.    I am confident that LIO is going to exceed your expectations in terms of sonics, build quality, high value - and will be a component / system that you will enjoy for many years (and I have a lot of things planned to keep it FUN.  I could not  be more proud and excited to finally begin shipping this "magic box" to you! 

A "very special thanks" goes to John Chapman of Bent Audio for the immense amount of effort he put into the LIO with me.  All of this would not have been possible without him!

I'll be the very first to comment on the quality of the remote.  It's the same unit Atma-Sphere uses for their MP-1 preamp remote.  I have one. . .it could double as a weapon of "mass" destruction in a pinch.

It's better to say that any OE or DIY that has does business with Bent Audio gets that remote as that's where it's really from.

The design work on your LIO is absolutely gorgeous!!! What a nice piece of gear and I can only imagine the time it took to make the insides work as a modular unit.

I'm totally intrigued by the concept and really hope the sound quality lives up to what appears to be a world class product.

Hi Steve,

This is correct!  "D cell" is just the size of the cap.  It's actually larger than a D cell, so I'm not sure why they call it that.  But yes, each is 350F.
(and as you put them in series, the capacitance decreases of course).

Yes, the rail voltage determines the max output swing of the amplifier (and this determines the max output power, assuming the amp is designed to drive 8 / 4 ohm speakers, and there is a enough current from the power supply to do so).  Due to the high current design of the LIO speaker output stage and the "ultra-high current" of the ultracap banks, the amp has no problem with 4 ohm or 2 ohm loads (and its power increases to 45wpc and 65wpc, respectively, into such loads). 

But to make a higher output power PURE-DC-4EVR ultracap-powered amp will require more ultracaps (higher voltage rails) for more maximum output swing.  And this is what I hope to have this Fall (RMAF time).  It would just be a power amp (no extra features) w/ approx. the same footprint as LIO.  I'd be shooting for at least 100wpc / 8-ohm, 200wpc / 4-ohm, and some more in to 2-ohm.
