I thought that was pretty amazing. Talk about crossover between cultures! In checking out the movie I came across this version which has quite a different mix and is a few seconds longer:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YV9GaWwfDY
Russell,I think I have this right ... the 'band' is Oreka Tx, two Basque guys who play a txalaparta, a giant marimba-like instrument intended to be played by two people at once. The documentary film is Nomadix Tx. Oreka Tx traveled to different countries to build a txalaparta with local materials and then play along with local folk musicians including a Sami singer joiking, Mongolian throat singers, sitar players and Arab ladies trilling ... all driven along by the beat of the txalaparta. The film also shows them galloping through Mongolia on their ponies in a snowstorm and jamming in Timbuctoo, two things, I think it's safe to say, I'll never get a chance to do. Alas.Lester
I think you have it right. The Basques are an interesting culture indeed, in many ways.
