I'm looking to upgrade from my current speakers, Eminent Technology LFT-VIIIa. I've been pretty happy with them, but ....
Also, how well will the vr-4jrs work in my relatively small room in a nearfield set-up?
My vote would be for the Silverlines. I had a pair of Sonatina II's on loan to try out and liked them quite a bit. It had a forward but very smooth midrange that made voices just pop out into the room. They were the exact opposite of the Usher CP-730's that I had. I found their midrange to be very flat and lifeless. Took a bit to get used to the big change, but I really liked them. I think it has to do with the excellent LPG 2" midrange Alan uses. Another bonus is they are selling for pretty cheap in Agon.
What i'm looking for in a new speaker are: midrange warmth without sacrificing details, well extended top and bottom, realistically wide and delineated soundstage, and it must do well in a nearfield set-up..
My current system includes: Marantz SA-14 --> Pure Note Eps Ref III --> PS Audio PCA-2 --> PS Audio Xstream Statement --> Modded PS Audio HCA-2 --> Zu Cable Wax bi-wires. ...
