Sold: Jasmine LP2.0 mkII Phono preamp

This is a nice MC/MM phono preamp that has been meticulously maintained. I am the original owner and it has about 250-300 hrs on it. There are plenty of reviews from different sources that consider the Jasmine a great sounding transistor phono preamp that combines some of the strengths of transistors, with a sound similar to classic tube designs. I too found this to be the case.

Externally, the Jasmine is a real classy piece. The paint, metal work, glass and lettering are all first rate. Build quality is really excellent.

I used the MM section with my Grado cartridges and the MC with my Denon DL103. In both cases it was a nice match. (MM = 47K ohm, MC = 50/100/250/1K ohm selectable)

I am selling it because the Jasmine has relatively high gain and when matched with my Eastern Electric Minimax preamp (which has really high gain) and high efficiency speakers, I have way too much gain in my system. I can't turn the dial on my preamp past 8:00. So I have decided to try a lower gain phono preamp. It is difficult to find a replacement with this type of build quality without spending considerably more.

I am asking $400. My price covers paypal fees (if that is the payment option you prefer) and I will split shipping costs.

I do not have much feedback here, but have sold plenty of equipment on audiogon where my member name is also "gotog". This is a real nice, one-owner piece that I think you will enjoy.

Sorry for the intrusion, but if you'd like to keep the Jasmine you might wanna consider sending your Minimax to Tom Tutay for his mods, which include gain reduction.  That's what I did when I owned it awhile ago.  Tom does great work, at very reasonable prices.

Another option is The JuicyMusic Blueberry preamp.  Google it, lots of good reviews.  It's a full function preamp w/ MM phono, and  has adjustable gain switches.  So it works with just about any amp / speaker combo.  Some units included the MC option,  called "cream".   I believe the transformers are Jensen.  I currently use the Blueberry v2 (MM only) and enjoy it very much.  Not quite as flexible as the Jasmine as the loading is not adjustable (MM = 47k, MC = 100 ohms).

I previously owned both EE Minimax preamp and the Jasmine 2.0.  Selling both units plus the tethering IC will get you very close to the Blueberry used price.

This one is several hundred $$ over stock unit typical used price.  Don't know anything about his "upgrades".

Good luck in whatever you do!
