Best place for caps on input of amp.
« on: 17 Dec 2014, 04:27 am »
I’m going to upgrade the input wires on my amp. Right now I have the wires coming off the amp then attached  to caps and the other end of the caps soldered to the xlr connector. My question is would it be better to have the cap attached at the amp or the wire attached to the amp and the xlrs with the caps in the middle? or does it matter?

Are these coupling caps? Or are they part of a passive signal level (not speaker level) crossover?

The caps blocks 80 hz down as the amp only powers the mids and highs drivers. The speakers came with a Y splitter with a cap to separate the low end from the mids and highs, but I found it more convenient to move the caps to the amp because the Y splitter was RCAs and my amp is xlr and I feed the low end amps from my dac, which is my pre amp.
