The trek to see Shoebox Jesus
« on: 13 Dec 2014, 03:53 pm »
One of the lesser known Christmas displays in St. Louis happens to be the humble Shoebox Jesus of Shrewsbury. Although small of stature, Shoebox Jesus stands tall amongst those who travel past the dreaded Shrewsbury Police station, home of the deluxe 32 mph speeding ticket writing cops.

Later this day we shall attempt to reconnoitre his abode and snap a few illicit photos. Be alert, as he only visits St. Louis for a couple weeks each year, to work his body of miracles.

As we drove by the dreaded Shrewsbury PD at a sedate 24 mph to avoid a ticket, we noticed that Shoebox Jesus was indeed up and running again, tucked in between the towering candy canes.

We sneaked up to get a couple better shots of the babe in swaddling clothes...

Please note that this year the fatter, upright sheep was moved to the right of Jesus, so all was not blocked from the sidewalk.

The best view is from a foot away, where the sheep and the floodlight don't block your sight line. Unlike last year, no police officers presented themselves to block our intrepid photographer from his mission.. Shoebox Jesus abides!
