Happy festivus party Saturday, Jan 24th CANCELLED
« on: 9 Dec 2014, 07:56 pm »
We are doublebooked at the front end with Liam's birthday party, and a family funeral on the back end. So sorry...

What weekend in January would be good for a festivus party?

How about 10th or 17th?  Those numbers just sounded good to me.

They are both good for us, as well. Anyone else?

I'm off the 3rd, 17th, and 31st, at this point in time.
I've never been to Dave's audio emporium, but have seen photos and am interested.
Things can change with my work, so don't arrange life around me, but I'd love to come.
You're in South Co, if memory serves?

Yep, we are, and will be for some time. Don't see any reason to move far at this point, with the big yard, walk-in basement, and too much gear to load easily.

Dear Daves,

It looks like I'll probably be in Columbia, Missouri on the 10th, and definitely in Boston on the 17th. How about the following weekend? I.e., the 24th?

And by the way: What happens to a hot power tube when you drool on it?

Very best,

Saturday Jan 17   1pm to 6 pm
Saturday Jan 24   1 pm to 6pm

This hopefully will catch the most people. As usual, we will have an assortment of amps and preamps to hear, and with it being winter, tube amps rule downstairs!

Dear Dave,

Thank you for your personal message, and invitation. I can't make it on the 17th; I will be in Boston, dealing with cold weather and grim business. But the 24th sounds very possible, and I'll hope to attend. Thank you for your generosity.

About 25 years ago I got to hear a system in New York which had no fewer than six of the Carver Silver-7 amplifiers. This was, mind you, the original Silver-7 amp which had 15 6L6-GC tubes per amp. I sat there listening to the best sound I had ever heard up to that point in my life, but wasn't really paying close enough attention to the music because I was wondering what the possibilities were of one of those 90 power tubes going out during the 45 minutes we had for listening. But ... none of them went out.

My reason for bringing this up? That kind of rig would be a good way for keeping my house warm now. Or your basement warm.

Thank you again for the invitation. I'll plan to be there on the 24th.

Very best,

Francis Baumli

Perceptive Francis, that is the gameplan. Fire the Atma-sphere OTL up about two hours before the start, and the basement will be a balmy 71 degrees by the time people start rolling in. Tubes are great in the winter, eh?

Dave,
I'll be there this Saturday at 1PM if it is a go on your end.
Any nuts or cheese you'ld like me to bring?
Ken
P.S. I meant the 'grow on trees' type of nuts.  Not myself or friends.

It is a go for Saturday, everyone. I will be making a soup to keep everyone warm.

Ken, definitely some cheeses, if you want. That will fit in nicely. 8)
