WTB: Marantz 1060
« on: 16 Nov 2014, 12:14 am »
EDIT: I've bought one. So I am no longer looking for one.

After days and days of reading opinions, looking at specs/pictures/etc, I've decided to dip my toes into the realm of classic vintage solid state with a Marantz 1060.

Ideally, I would like to find one that is ready to go as I don't have the means to deal with a project. I'd love to get one that has been completely recapped, but I'll consider anything that at least works as it is supposed to.

Cosmetics aren't too important, though having all the knobs would be nice. Wood case is nice too, but not needed.

Now I *know* there are tons of great choices out there for vintage solid state, and some day I may explore what else is out there, but for the time being I really do have my sights set on a 1060 for reasons that I'm not going to go into now. I'm sure your reasons for offering something other than a 1060 are valid and well thought out, but trust me, I have been researching this for awhile and I have made my decision

I am located about an hours drive North of Milwaukee.

Good choice! Nothing at all wrong with that choice, and it is a very musical yet still pretty detailed amp. FYI, the 2230 receiver is pretty much identical electrically speaking.

Thank you, sir!
I know a lot of people like the 1060.  Originally I was looking at the 2230, but then I realized I needed more inputs and could do w/out the tuner just fine.

I am fully aware of the scene there.  For that price it should be completely recapped, not just the "problematic" ones.  IMO the ebay prices are out of hand.

I've found sweet one for a great price.  This thread can be closed.
