Interesting interview. I saw them live a couple weeks back. My first time seeing them. First word that comes to mind is "tight". Easy to tell they have been together a long time. Petty said the newest member of the band is the bass player. He has been with them 19.5 years. Recommended.

I've always wondered if musicians considered the "average consumer".
Well I wonder also about producers, engineers, mixers etc.   I guess
this could lead to another non-winnable debate.    

I always assumed that some music isn't recognized as great unless people have
the system to bring out the "emotion" of the artist.  Jazz fusion is one
of those genres that I think requires a good system to really enjoy what
the artist is trying to "say".

Speaking of cheap speakers, Tom mentioned in a interview in Gainesville,( my home town, not to mention Petty and I went to the same High School) he also mentioned leaving the stage and going up into the cheap seats to see what the music sounded like during warmup, he wanted everyone to experience the concert the way he portrayed his music.

Thanks for the link! Nice that Tom is thinking about the average Joe A lot of his albums are recorded very well. Like Southern Accents 1988 MCA UK version or 1989 Full Moon Fever vinyl. Finding well recorded music is liking upgrading your speakers! Mojo on blu-ray is good too.
