Preamp has been sold.
I've got too many preamps sitting around unused and it's time to move one on to a new home. Not sure exactly how old it is, but I've had it since the beginning of 2001. When I received it, UPS was evidently rough with it and managed to damage the windings in the transformer requiring a trip back to Music Reference for repairs. Roger replaced the original dual voltage transformer with a single voltage transformer (heavier gauge wire, less likely for the problem to ever reoccur.) The one issue it has now is that the on/off/standby switch has become worn and when operating the switch, it can flicker back & forth between standby and operate modes. If you take your fingers off the switch, it stabilizes and operates normally. Obviously, one would want to eventually replace this. I emailed Music Reference and got a quote of $400 to go through it and bring up to spec. I thought I'd see if anyone was interested in purchasing "as is" before I send it off for repair. Obviously, you can save some money buying it at this point and handling the repair yourself. I can send to you or directly to Music Reference for repair. As to the tubes, I have a pretty good assortment of 6922's or 6dj8's to fit it with. I've got a set of very low hour Music Reference RAM matched low noise tubes (as noted on invoice) or NOS in various flavors. I preferred NOS tubes and used the RAM tubes only briefly. Final price would vary accordingly. If at all interested, make me an offer. I'm open to anything reasonable. I'm thinking somewhere in the $350 ballpark, with the RAM tubes, is a fair price. This is a very sweet little preamp and someone will get a bargain whether they buy it now or after I make the repairs in the event it doesn't sell as is. FWIW, you can check my feedback on both Audiogon and Ebay, same user name: Photon46.
