His first three albums remain my favorites, (The Progressive Blues Experiment, Johnny Winter and Second Winter). When the PBE was first released it was unlike anything that I and my friends had ever heard. We saw him in '69 and then again in some warehouse in DC in '70. He became so frenetic during Rollin' and Tumblin' that he was almost vibrating resulting in genuine looks of concern on the faces of his band members. After the show we waited for him out back where his car was parked to sing his praises and, being a dumb teenager, I seated myself on the hood of his car. When he finally came out he walked right up to me and said "Hey kid, get off my gdamn car. What the hell is wrong with you?". He then got in the car and drove away. That was my sole interaction with my guitar hero.
