Basic Bi-Amp info requested
« on: 25 Aug 2004, 05:04 pm »
Hi,

I own a pair of SupertowerII speakers and am replacing my older VanAlstine amp/preamp.

I am interested in a DIY tube amp for the upper registers and a solid state for the lower, but I know little about the "how to" of bi-amplifaction, except for the fact that there are the posts and switches on the speakers for it. (when I bought my speakers as kits, VMPS was a young company and supplied minimal mimeoed instructions).

Could someone direct me to a web site that covers the theory and "how-to" of bi-amplification - or perhaps tell me a bit about it?

Thanks!

Here is a link for you.

I am not familiar with the super tower II but if you making the DIY tube amp an integrated amp would help immensly in passively biamping.  You wouldn't have to get a passive preamp to adjust the level.  You can also get a pre or line stage that has 2 sets of out put which would save you from having to get y splitters.
