Well I like these guys and I own an affordable DAC by them. Now they offer a very affordable passive preamp for $50.

Looks like a great little device. I wonder how good the volume control is though - technically, and also in terms of "feel" and preciseness.

I have one and it works great as far as I'm concerned. Volume works fine
