This is an excellent modern sounding integrated tube amp in great condition for an unbeatable price. Last Ebay sale was at $700 and current Ebay asking price is $680. A new 502B retails for $1,600 and functionally is very much the same with the exception of the remote control function and auto biasing for the tubes. So at $500 this amp is a steal!
The fundamentals of this amp are quite good, in particular the german steel transformers and the circuit board with it's large traces. Many people buy these to modify and upgrade, turning them into great amp only. This one has not been modified / upgraded as far as I am aware other than a factory addition of variable RCA preamp outputs, which are quite handy for either a subwoofer, or to do bi-amplification. The previous owner used this to drive the mid range / tweeter of his speakers and a solid state amp for bass drivers. Nonetheless this amp has plenty of power to drive even demanding loads, and the flexibility to use 6550, KT88, KT90 and even KT120 tubes. I think the KT120s I tried sounded best, but currently it's configured with Electroharmonix KT88's.
I've been using it recently and it is in excellent operating condition. Cosmetically the only noticeable condition is a scratch on the back of one output transformer (see photos). In many ways I prefer this "back in black" look w/ visible transformers to the later silver Jolida 502B's with their transformer cover. I'm selling because with three other tube amps in the household, it's just not getting the use it should and could use a new home.
