WTB: Quicksilver stereo or mono block amplifier(s)
« on: 11 May 2014, 09:13 am »
I am looking for a pair of Quicksilver monos or a Quicksilver stereo tube amplifier to go with my Quicksilver Phono and Quicksilver Line stages. Let me know if you have what I'm looking for and how much cash you need. I'd consider units needing repair if all the transformers are good. thanks

If anyone has interest, I'm selling a very clean set of Silver mono's with like new cages along with a Quick full function pre amp with phono.

I need to amend this. I have seen a slew of these monos and the GLA sell for under a $1000. Just a few months back when I wasn't looking....... of course.   Seems like I've had a lot of responses from people offering up their Quickies from $1200-1800. Are these going up in value or is it because I'm asking for one?  My budget is $600-800. That probably only qualifies me for a GLA, which I have found several instances of selling at the $600 mark in nice shape. If you are looking for more than my allotted budget, I can't swing it- just to save you time and trouble. Without tubes is fine and needing repair is fine as long as the transformers are good. I might consider offering up some of my Bottlehead gear for those who like trading. I have at least one Foreplay pre I could partially trade to offset a purchase if it exceeds my budget.

GLA or Mini Monos are probably the only models in your price range.  Just a little more (around $1k) and you can find an old pair of the KT88 monos...eventually.  It does seem like vintage Quicksilver is skyrocketing in value.

My Silver Mono's need output tubes, but they are at Audio Connection in NJ and John has 88's or 120's to install depending on what the person wants.  Without cages, the last Silver Mono's went for north of 1500 at least.  Yes, they are going for that as folks realize who well made they are and how great they still sound.  Mike makes gear that lasts and can drive anything.  Silver Mono's were some of his best amps he's ever made in regards to power and sound.  I've heard folks do upgrades on them, but they didn't make them sound better.  Good luck as they are worth it, but not many of us are selling.  I also am selling my original full function Quick preamp that rocks and I think sounds better than his newer preamps as so many others.  I'd love to sell these as a package as they sound perfect together.

I do appreciate the offer ctsooner but my budget is half that presently. Unless you'd trade for a full Bottlehead setup. I'd love to have them though obviously. I think as Ericus Rex said, I'm gonna hope for either a GLA or Mini Mites/Monos if luck would favor me.

Trick, I fully understand and hope that you get them.  They are bullet proof and sound awesome for the money. The silvers with cages seem to fetch a fair price right now.  Hopefully he'll find a buyer or two soon, but if not, no biggie.  Keep us posted on your findings. If I see one in your range, I'll let you know.
