Hi Xavier.
Nice work.
With a machine like that, it sure makes your building lots easier.
I like the idea of the curved sides.

I'm following a woodworking class and it's a machine we have in the school. I managed to fit the making of my speakers into one of my class projects. Indeed it's a lot easier, especially for the curves and the circles.

No I decided to go with the DIY method and grabed some floor tiles and 1inch open cell foam from a fabric store. I'll try in my next project, see if I find a difference.

I meant for the fill, not for the cabinet wall  lining (no rez or DIY OCF/floor tile). You'll still need the fill in additon  to the floor tile and  OCF.   You can get a 1lb bag of the acusta stuff from Bob for about $10  and it works great  instead of the poly fil.

Gorgeous!  Can you share some detail on the curved sides?  Any more pictures? How you did it? What material you used for the sides? How many layers?

I agree with Jay about using Acousta Stuff. Works great to help  provide deeper, tighter bass and cleaner, smoother midrange performance. I used Acousta Stuff in my AV3 TL's as well as all the speakers I build. It's really a great product. BTW, your AV3 TL's look very nice. I really like the rounded front edges.  What type of finish stain do you plan to use?

I meant to ask if you ordered the Sonicap upgrades for the crossovers?

I have contacted Bob about the Acusta stuff and he should be getting some within the week.

As for the curved sides, I made some curved braces with 3/4" mdf on which I glued/nailed perform (which is very flexible plywood). I put two 3/16" layers.

Ron, I did order the sonicaps for the crossovers, which I have just finished assembling today. As for the finish I'll probably leave the wood as is in terms of colour and simply apply a sealer and 2 or 3 layers of lacquer. FYI the veneer I used is mahogany and the rounded edges are in solid cherry.

I can't wait to put them to use!

Hi Hackenbeck.
Nice work you did and nice set up.
Simple and clean looking.

Guy, it's a Technics SL-L2 automatic turntable. Glad you all seem to like them! I think they sound great from the start, although I don't have the acousta stuff filling yet. I'm guessing the bass will get rounder after a few months. Thanks Danny for the great speakers!

Just beautiful. A tip for the LP storage: If you have a small local record store that sells new LP's, in the cartons the records are shipped in will be a couple of 12" X 12" pieces of cardboard. Ask them if they wouldn't mind saving them for you to pick up once a week (shipments usually arrive on Monday, as new release day is Tuesday). Use the cardboard to fill the empty space in each section of your LP bookcase (until you buy more LP's, and fill them that way!). If left at too much of an angle for too long, LP's warp.
