Looking forward to it.  :thumb:

I hope that this year they have a good selection of vinyl LPs for sale at the show.  I found the choices very disappointing the last few shows.

I visited the Montreal Audio Show on Friday evening and I must say that overall, I was very disappointed.

I've been attending the show for the past 12 years and it seems to be getting smaller and smaller each year.  Also, the music selection (vinyl & CDs) are slowly disappearing with only a handful this year for purchase (and not necessarily the greatest selections).

As I was leaving the show, I heard several people talking in the elevator and many of them were also very disappointed with the show, like I was.

The one part that really bothered me the most was the Naim room.  In order to get in, you needed to register and then wait in line.  I waited for 20 minutes and then gave up and visited the Bryston room for a second time.

I even bumped into two dealers that I've done business with and although they recognized me, they couldn't be bothered (couldn't give me 2 minutes of their time even though their rooms were not busy at all).  Very sad, if you ask me...  :(

However, as usual, the Bryston room was very well organized, staff was very friendly and the sound was great!  Kudos to the Bryston team for a job well done!   :thumb:

It was also nice to see other rooms using Bryston amps to demo their speakers.  Says a lot about Bryston!  :D

Anyone else visit the show?  If so, what was your impression overall?

Hi all.
Two years ago I went to the Montreal Audio Show and I was very disappointed.
The layout of the exhibitors was spread all over the Place Bonaventure.
The big room where not friendly, the staff were more interested in talking between them than talking to potential buyers.
I don't know why, but I don't remember seeing the Bryston room ??? :duh:
Here in Vietnam, the Hi-End Show is very small and only hi $ $ $ stuff and music as loud as at the discotheque.

Very sad indeed.  Choose your vendors wisely.

You mean it gets better than the Model T passives? :icon_surprised:

I don't understand how an external crossover would improve on the sound.

Hi --- Yes

Heres the story.  At audio shows my coworkers always get asked by our visitors  "which one of you is James" - so they presented me with the sweater on opening day and it has my name printed on the back

Hi Mag

Sometimes you get misquoted and what I was explaining was there were a number of advantages to the external crossover.

1. Anyone wanting to go with an ACTIVE Model T system in the future should get the Signature version as you cannot bypass the internal crossover in the T and replace it with an electronic one.
2. The coils in the signature are Air Core inductors instead of Laminated Core chocks in the standard Model T. Air core inductors will generally take more power before saturation over laminated cores.
3. The capacitors in the Signature are Bryston labelled and made specifically to our spec whereas the capacitors in the standard Model T are standard issue.
4. The T Signature series has 3 sets of terminals on the rear to allow for tri-wiring instead of bi-wiring if you wish.
5. Also if you are playing very loud for long lengths of time internal crossovers can heat up and there values can change slightly whereas the external crossover does not have that issue due to better cooling.

Sound wise in blind listening tests under normal operating conditions it is really hard to tell the difference in my opinion.

Hope this helps.

I don't know how you got the Model T's to enhance recordings. Particularly noticeable on bad recordings. Like I have a bootleg recording of Loves No Friend of Mine by Deep Purple. I cleaned it up the best I could, with the Model T however it sounds way better and is quite acceptable to listen to now. And this goes for lot of other recordings.

I didn't think a speaker could make that kind a difference with recordings. :smoke:
