Guy 13,
Did you upgrade your router? Does it solve your problem?
Hi Doublej.
At last, at long, long last...
Finally my wifi adventure came to an end today,
more than two months after my first post.
At first, I asked my wife's nephew to program for me my new Linksys wifi,
but after a week of trial himself and with his supposely computer guru friend
he gave me back the un-programmed unit.
My wife contacted a programmer for a computer store that we have used a few time to solve problems with out laptop at our showroom and he was much better than the previous little porky that we fired.
It took a long time before he could make a house call.
Each time I asked my wife to call him, he was busy,
at last this morning 8am is rang the bell of our door.
I explain what I wanted to do and he immediately started to work on programming the unit, but, yes, there's always a but when Vietnamese are involved in something.
Anyway, he had to up grade the firm ware, but it did not work,
therfore he had to call the technician of the importer of Linksys,
after that, he could not connect, and so on and on...
Believe me or not (I don't care)
It took him from 8am to 5pm without stopping for lunch.
He had a zillion problems which I cannot tell you what they are,
because I don't understand the programming language,
anyway, finally the wifi slave or repeater worked
and my Grace Mondo Internet radio work fine,
minds you I had a little problem entering the key pass word,
but I went on the Internet and typed :
Grace Mondo Instruction manual
and saw how to do it, because the technician could not do it.
Am I surprised? Not at all.
At the same time, I tried my laptop because he had changed some program in it,
so I asked him to put back everything the way it was before I put his fingers on it.
I tested my Grace Mondo with my Decware tube amplifier and at first it did not work, the radio could not find the wifi,
I've reposition the wifi unit a little closer
and the Internet radio found the signal.
With my sound system it sound good,
not as good as with some CDs, but listenable.
However, I will put the radio on my desk.
I also tried the Sennheiser HD-650 (300 Ohms)
and the HD-570 (60 Ohms) and they both work fine,
of course the HD-650 as a better sound, especially in the bass.
So, this his an happy ending story, not like the story of my Rega turntable and Bellari phono stage.
He charged me 300,00 VND, holy smoke, that a lot of Vietnamese money,
but in real money it's only 15 USD, yes, 15 USD for 9 hours of work.
My wife gave him 20 USD, because she says he work hard.
I think he sould have given us 10 USD because he've learned a lot with today's programming.
Guy 13
On Friday I am going on a 4 days vacation with my wife and her family,
as they say: When you marry a Vietnamese, you marry the family.
I will be relaxing in dalat city with the mountains, the pine trees, the lakes, the much milder/cooler temperature and with four women.
