Wanted to revive this thread. I recently received a quad of the Psvane KT120s for my Rogue Stereo 90. I am still breaking them in, but after only a few hours, I think they are far superior to the Tung Sol KT120s in my amp. They are the best power tubes I have used.
They have a very holographic midrange, the music just floats between the speakers. Bass is very powerful, but without any bloat in the upper bass registers. Highs have a nice, clean shimmer to them. In comparison the Tung Sol KT120 sound "dry" in the midrange and more electronic.
For reference, I have used Tung Sol KT120, Psvane KT88 greyglass, Penta Labs KT88SC, Gold Lion KT88, EH KT88, EI KT90 type2, GEC KT66, Treasure 6CA7, EH 6CA7, Mullard EL34 xf2, 6P3S-E, GE 6L6GC and others. The Psvane KT120 black glass beats them all in my amp in my system (driving Acoustat Spectra22).
Your mileage may vary.

Hi Mendel,

How are the psvane KT 120 Treasures holding up in the Rogue?   I have an upgraded Sonic Frontiers Power 1 running Tung Sol KT120s I am thinking of doing the upgrade.  My past experience with Psvane EL34s in an assemblage was not good.  Went through two sets, and cost me a few hundred $'s in repairs on the amp.  I ultimately had to send them back for a refund.  I just could not bias the tubes correctly in my Assemblage amp.   I did love their sound, they were just not reliable for me.  I am hoping the KT120s fare a better in terms of stability.

Thanks
Lou

Hi Mendel,

It's been a couple of months now.  What are your observagtions on the Black Treasure kt 120 tubes.  I believe the Treasures and the Psvane are the same tube.

I'm itching to try these out but would prefer not do so absent some insight from an experienced user.  Does anyone have any experience with the Psvane KT 120 or the vendor?

Thanks,

Mike

The Tung-Sols are reliable as hell.  They are workhorse tubes.  I have had less than stellar reliability issues from various Psvane tubes.  Sticking with the Tung-Sols.

Agreed.  My Tungsol kt120s have been bullet proof.  But I'm very curious about the Psvane.
