Pass Labs X250.5-SOLD
« on: 6 Jan 2014, 08:22 pm »
This is a great amp but I really don't need all the power anymore.  Used this to power Salk Soundscape 8’s which I sold.  Amp was purchased in July of 2013 as a new demo from Reno Hifi, so it has about 2 ½ years of transferable warranty left.  I can provide the bill of sale for warranty info.  There are 2 small nicks on the upper right faceplate, but they are only visible when you’re close to the amp.  No issues with the amp at all.  I have original double boxing and manual.  I’m asking $4000 plus shipping.  Paypal preferred; no fee.  To anyone in Michigan that’s interested I’m willing to meet to save shipping costs.

Can you tell me how you liked these with your SS8's?  I'm strongly considering this amp.

I actually went through a few Pass amps until I settled on this one.  I had 30.5 (my favorite sounding!), 150.5, and 60.5's at one time or another.  None of them seemed to have enough power for the SS8's until I got this amp.  When I'd listen at moderate to high levels (80-90db) the needle would swing, indicating moving out of Class A for the 30.5 and 60.5's, and pulling a lot of current on the 150.5.  The only time I could get the needle to move on the 250.5 was on classical recordings at fairly high levels (and believe me I tried to see what its limits were!)  It just seemed 'effortless' with the SS8's.
