FS: AKSA amplifier

Complete dual mono aksa amplifier, runs from 27V rails with single output pair. BYV fast diodes and EXR filter caps. Voiced with the finest parts available; non-polar black gate, audionote copper foil PIO and auricap capacitors, riken ohm carbon film, non-magnetic holco and mills wirewound resistors, cardas binding posts and kimber RCA inputs. Vampire RCA outputs (passive output), and Alps blue velvet pot. Wired with mixture of cardas litz wire, kimber TCSS and belden 89259.

Nice clean chassis, very well constructed. DOES NOT HUM. Ready to go as an integrated or dediacted power amplifier.

Kicks some serious butt, displaced an ME850 (A$5000) from my system some years ago. Selling to fund another project that glows in the dark.

My guess is that it is an AKSA 55.
I.e. "...single output pair..." and "27V rails."

If I am not mistaken, the AKSA 100 uses double output pairs, and 49V rails.

Yes, single output pair sounded better to me with 27V rails, IIRC others have found similar.

Did you assemble the Aksa 55 (40) on yr own?

I am glad that replacing all the passive stock Aksa components for the exclusive ones did work for you. There are some reposts of Aksa on this forum and articles on the net that a highendish amp is an  "interactive holistic" system careful designed and tweaked obviously including even the weakest component/link of that same system. Replacing even resistors may not give the desired results.

silent majority, yeah I guess so. I remember being laughed at for having a major case of placebo affect for posting to a local group that I'd sold the ME850 because this cheap kit amp called the aksa just clobbered it in every respect.

Passive components, you have two options here; take someone elses word for it, or try it and see. Some components have a warmer sound, some have a brighter sound, balance it out.
