This sub has 15" and 12" active drivers along with a down-firing 15" passive radiator.

This subwoofer has all the available upgrades from VMPS. Upgrades are -
- Both active drivers were upgraded to the Magawoofer option.
- The interior walls of the cabinet have Soundcoat applied. Soundcoat is a spray on heavy ceramic coating that dampens vibration of the cabinet.
- Interior wiring upgraded to 12 gauge Monster Cable.

This subwoofer weighs 138 lbs.

Will play down to 17hz for some serious shake that you can feel. NASA's Langley Research Center purchased two Larger VMPS Subwoofers as a source of 118+ dB, 20 Hz tone bursts.

This is a passive subwoofer, meaning there is no built-in amplifier. Each woofer has its own input, so the best way to power it is to use a high current home audio amplifier and use one output per speaker. Or even better (and cheaper) use a pro-audio amplifier.

I purchased this brand new at a cost of $1250. You will not find a more musical subwoofer for two channel listening that will also shake the foundation of your house for home theater.

Hey Doug,

My wife is always telling me that I never even notice the obvious!  So, it didn't even dawn on me that these were yours!  Duh...!   
I'm at least glad that I could help by repeating your ad here.  I hope they sell fast.  I never knew your RM-1's were that sweet. 
I wish they were closer, I'd buy them myself.  Use them with my DIY VMPS's, if I ever get them finished!

"The RM 30 is rather nimble by comparison, weighing in at a scant 110 pounds and measuring 48"H x 20"Dx8"W. It is sort of a scaled down RM40 with a different, more modern visage. With its narrow front baffle and side-firing 10-inch woofer it reminds me of an Audio Physic Virgo on steroids! VMPS was a small local loudspeaker manufacturer based out of El Sobrante, CA. Run by Brian Cheney since 1977, Brian passed on in late 2012.

Up for sale are one pair of VMPS MiniTower IIa 5-way speakers in black stained oak cabinets. Each speaker contains:

- 5" polypropylene cone isolated midrange
- 10" low-bass driver with 40oz magnet
- 10" high-compliance, mass loaded, downward-firing, slot-loaded passive radiator subwoofer
- Focal Superdome inverted harddome tweeters (upgraded)
- Ribbon supertweeters driver (upgraded).
- Two sound control pods (front & rear) used to tune the sound to your environment

These are low distortion, high efficiency speakers that will operate with an amplifier output of only 25RMS/channel (or greater of course). Great natural sound!

Dimensions: 39" X 12" X 15". About 75 lbs each.

A set of Super Tower II with a LRC and a set of dipole surrounds all for $500. They look a little dusty and rough but nothing a lttle TLC won't fix. He said the drivers are all good except the PRs in the towers. In the Chicago area, pick up only.

Though, I don't know how or why the seller even in his wildest imagination thought that he had RM-50's!!!  Did he even try to find out what speaker he had???     I emailed the seller, sending him info on what he had, and a couple of quotes from Brian, on the design, and used prices.  I never heard anything back...   

Just the same, I'd love to hear them.  And would like to own them.  But, not at that price!  Even the opening bid is high, regardless of that Buy It Now fantasy land price!
