My preamp sent a nasty through my system and one speaker has failed. Two local techs who have worked on Quad 63s said they would take a look at it for me. Actually, one is not quite local--3 hours away. He requested guts pics.
I cannot get the base open. It is a Chinese-made puzzle. Apparently the 2805 assembly is sufficiently different from the Q63 that my tech support is also puzzled.
I won't go into details of what I have tried since anyone with actual experience will already know how I have failed. My question is do I take the top cover off or the bottom cover and how do I do that?
Desperate here, no speaker no fun. I really want to get this repaired locally since shipping would be very $$$$ and a royal pain fraught with danger.
