I'm in for a least one pair if not four pair....

Danny, any progress on the M130 side loaded fast system?

Also, what do you perceive to be advantages of such a system versus a conventional two-way (M130 plus tweeter)?

Finally, I recall a thread (but cannot find it) where you designed a speaker with two 3" "full range" drivers; one driver in front with the other driver on top, is this something that would be suited for the "LGK"?

Thanks.

It didn't work too well with a passive crossover. Ideally the side firing woofer needs its own small plate amp. Then it would work out great.

Small frontal area.

Maybe.

Or how about a small 3-way?  Although, I don't know if it would have any real advantage over a similar sized 2-way(?)  Or how about an open baffle smallish two-way desktop speaker?

.............I suppose the single driver "high quality desk top speaker" is the ideal application for this 3" "LGK."

I will experiment with some narrow open baffle towers.

Still lookin' good for late January to early February availability?  Will you have, or have someone lined up to make, the flat-pack kit for the enclosure?

By the T/S parameters they sent with these they need an optimal ported box of .165 cubic feet. And they -3db at 68Hz. I modeled it down to .12 cubic feet and lifted the output slightly in the 120Hz to 400Hz range and made the roll off a little smoother and more gradual. It still hit a -3db of 78Hz.

I am going to try some really narrow boxes that the inside measurements are 3.75" wide, 6" of depth, and 9" tall. I will try these with 1/2" MDF. I am a little unsure about lining them with No Rez. The foam is an inch thick on No Rez. I'll see what I can figure out and do some experimenting.

These are fairly high Q so they need a little more air space than your typical 3". Optimal sealed is .146 cubic feet by the numbers, but looks good down to about .08 cubic feet or so.
My daughter is asking for a bluetooth speaker, so I was thinking these would make a nice project to build for her nightstand. Sort of a boom box, speaker boxes laying on their side connected at the bottom, with a small amp and a bluetooth receiver built in.

Are the dimensions/volumes you listed earlier still valid?  Would I be able to change the depth and height as long as I kept the baffle width(internal) at 3.75 and the volume close to .146 cubic feet?

Have you finished your box design yet?

Yep, looking good. Flat packs will be available too.

Sounds like a good plan.

I designed a box and Ben is CNC programming and cutting a flat pack for me. I will glue them up, and test them to see if any changes are needed as soon as they arrive.

I think you guys will like the cabinet shape, but if you need to manipulate it for your application then you can do so. Just try to keep the front baffle area as close as possible to the original design.

Will (or how many) the flat pack fit into a large flat rate USPS priority box?  Of course, assuming this is even an option.

I don't know. I'll let you know when it gets here.

Yes, I will try them in open baffle as well.

I'd like to try 10 of them in an open baffle line. The top driver will play full range and the lower 9 (series parallel 3 and 3 group) will handle the lower ranges using a very low crossover point.

Very nice looking flat pack.  Looks so simple you could put those together with out any clamps.

What are the outside dimensions?
1/2" OR 3/4"?

Looks thick because it is so small, but those panels are only 1/2" thick.

Those look great and would work better than my current desktop speakers. Definitely still interested, especially with a flat pack!

I like all the bracing that is in the cabinet even though it is small.

A couple of things though:

Can the flatpack be ordered in 1/2" baltic birch plywood?

I was hoping for a more "decorative" cabinet shape, especially one with a sloping front baffle, since this is a "test" cabinet will you come up with different shapes?  A trapezoidal cabinet would look cool or at least different.

A 12" side is probably not going to fit into a large flat rate USPS priority box.  Logistically, an inch or so less and at least 2 cabinets should fit in one box and they are free at the post office.  Just saying.

Danny how close are these to the Fostex 126en?

I'm wondering if they could be dropped into my horn cabinets. At $29 a pop it could be fun :thumb:
