Yep, you need one for each channel.

Does NAD state the input impedance of the amp?

Here are the specs for the NAD C372:

Preamp - input impedance = 50K Ohm / 320pF

Power Amp - input impedance = 20K Ohm / 470pF

For an input impedance that low you will need about a .1uF cap value.

Thanks Danny. Obviously you would have the caps but what about the rest of the components to build these filters? I wouldn't think simply soldering the cap between any old RCA plug and jack would be very acceptable or sturdy.

You can put it on the gear. For instance my pre-amp has three sets of outputs and one of those sets has a pair of small Sonicap Platinum's in line with the RCA's. Some guys even put them in an amp as the first thing that connects to the RCA input.

I can make an inline filter as well. So you can plug it in to anything.

The inline filter would be more to my liking. More flexibility that way.

Danny, just read up on this thread and now that the desktop one is designed and in production....How about a soundbar design next (saw you mention this earlier)?  We've been pestering you for an in-wall / on-wall GR design, but I think the soundbar would be great to have. Just want one that is wall mountable.

What do you think?

Yep, I think that will be a good use for them.

The filter Danny is describing is the simpliest form of the HiPass section of a PLLXO (Passive Line Level XO). Somebackground here: http://www.t-linespeakers.org/tech/filters/passiveHLxo.html

For a small room, use them as surrounds,  à la the A/V-1RS?

Danny-

Any idea on SPL range where they shine? In the current config (single driver-per channel, desktop)  that is.

Thanks.

EDIT: Found the 87 db Sensitivity measurement you posted earlier in the thread.

Danny-

What kind of sensitivity will these have? Also, any idea on SPL range where they shine? In the current config (single driver-per channel, desktop) for both questions.

Thanks.

Sensitivity with the compensation network is 86db. They shine pretty well at low power levels and up to their limits all very well.

Danny and others put the cap right on the input (power amp) or output (pre-amp) jacks (rather than in an inline filter) to avoid the two extra connection joints inherent in the filter (which is a female RCA input and a male RCA output connected together). It's for keeping the chain as transparent as possible.

I always thought that the 8" servo sub would make an awesome computer system sub.
Is there a way to use the subs amp to power the desktop speakers as well?
I realize it would have to be altered, but there are plenty of self powered desktop sub/sat systems out there.

There isn't anyway to power the small speakers from the servo amp. A separate good quality low powered amp is recommended.
