Is this box set (vinyl) worth getting? I can't find anything that confirms what these were mastered from.  Are they from the original master tapes, or are these from mp3? If anyone here buys one can you please do an a/b comparison with originals and tell us your findings? Thanks in advance for any info.

That seems to be the popular opinion. Haven't quite decided myself. I don't think the copies will sell out that quick and I hope to hear some feedback in the near future.

They may not sell out that quick, but I'd like to have the early ones off the press, before it got any damage. There are lots of Eagles fans out and about, and while there are many, many copies available in the used bin, almost all are worn out.

can you elaborate on the differences?

Not sure of your question, but I'll do my best. Getting early pressings is always desirable. During the pressing process, nicks and digs will happen.

Next, about the quality of the remasters. These records are superior to the original pressings in every way shape and form. They are engaging, clean and dynamic. There is detail that I have not heard in this way before. I rank this box set with my Genesis 1970-1975 set. I'm thru the second record and have not even heard a static snap. I may buy another set.

Surprised to find this posted in the Music Circle and not in the Vinyl Circle.

I ordered it through my local record store as soon as it was announced even though I have very clean copies of all their records including Hell Freezes Over and Long Road to Eden. After all, the Eagles are arguably the greatest American rock n roll band of the past 60 years. At the very least, the #1 band of the 70's. I'm a collector as well as a music lover and bought the box set reissues of Dylan's first 8 studio albums, the Grateful Dead studio albums , the Doors and Janis Joplin, so this was an easy decision for me.

I am very impressed with the SQ, quality of the pressing and the packaging. According to Michael Fremer, the original analog tapes were used to produce 24/192 bit files and the lacquers were cut from those files. http://www.analogplanet.com/content/rhino-issues-eagles-studio-albums-1972-1979-vinyl-box-set-six-180gram-vinyl-records

Highly recommended for anyone who likes the Eagles. BTW, the current tour is terrific. I saw them in DC and Seattle. Three hours with two encores and Bernie Leadon on stage for about half the concert. Great performances and they can still harmonize with the best. Don Henley closing the concert singing Desperado was a goose bump moment.

I'm glad to learn that the Eagles are playing nice with Bernie Leadon.  I thought the Eagles were a more interesting band when they had his country influence.  But they got much more rich and famous after he left, so what do I know.

It was really cool seeing Bernie with them. There was a time when Glenn and Don said no to former members playing with them. I'm glad they mellowed on this and have great relationship with Bernie, unlike with Don Felder. Also, when they sang Take It to the Limit, Glenn spoke affectionately of Randy Meisner and wished him a quick recovery from his illness. He might have joined them too if he had not been ill. Glenn has a good voice, but he can't hit the high notes like Randy did.

Last night I did an A/B comparison with my RTI Hotel California and the box set version.  The bass was much better on the RTI.  Vocals sounded better on the new version.
