James,

there is one pic that shows a tube amp and black Bryston mini-T speakers, correct?

did they ask you to borrow the speakers to demo their amp??

al.

p.s.: nice pictures, Prelude. thanx!
Hi Al,
Yes you are right, the mini-t with tube amp. I do not know if he borrowed the speakers or he is a dealer but he was a very friendly gentleman and I did enjoy some conversation with him.

Once again TAVES time has rolled around and as usual the Bryston room proved to be an oasis of good taste and great music.

The big difference this year was an all Bryston system featuring their over reaching flagship speaker the Model T. Not only was it the best sounding room but it also was one of the few rooms where you could relax, sit down and enjoy a great sounding system with zero pressure.

Congrats to the Bryston team for a fantastic job.

Managed to stop in today at the Bryston room and had the pleasure of meeting James. I was also very impressed with the Model T speaker's performance and detail - great product and they are definitely going to be "giant killers." What a most enjoyable day, an audio show, a new victorian shirt and some CD shopping  :thumb:

@ PRELUDE - as always, thanks for taking the time to post photos of the show  :thumb:

I was hoping to see a VPI HR-X or Clearaudio Innovation - but sadly, no luck  :bawl:

Well, I was looking for a TT but nothing. :(
I do not know why the selection for TT was so weak this year when some of the music store owners are quite happy about their Lp sale.

Toronto Audio Show:

The speakers are what you'd expect from Bryston, IMO.

They don't really have a character - you hear precisely what was recorded.

Hi everyone,

Had the pleasure of attending TAVES again this year. The Bryston room was again excellent. Same room as last year - the large Kensignton room on the second floor - and Leonard Cohen was playing yet again!  Loved the sound.  Perfect show off of the midbass, with a strong, tuneful, clear and authoritative sound. Other rooms I also liked included Joseph Audio, Focal, Muraudio, and others. The Focus room was again very good - notable clarity, and well, focus. (Yet I hardly hear about this company.) System Audio had monitors which had startling bass. The Nola speakers were wonderful to behold and hear.  A few rooms had tube driven, corner placed boxy speakers with large paper drivers, with tone I loved.  In another room, the famed Legacy Aeris speakers were under utilized. Another room had a speaker with bright red horns and plasma tweeter. Mesmerizing when the right music was played. I could go on ...

I took about 13 minutes of video  with short clips of almost every room. Of course it doesn't come close to capturing the full experience, but hopefully you get the idea!

The venerable Ernie Fisher of Inner Ear fame held court inspiring visitors on how to set up a high resolution system for less than $10,000.

As always, the sound was quite good in his room, this time with the three-way stand mounted Bryston Mini T loudspeaker ($2600) set up on the room diagonal. They were powered by a remote controlled 12 wpc Class A Simply Italy integrated tube amplifier ($2500) running EL34 tubes fed by a server I didn't recognize (Audia Flight?). About $1000 worth of Zen cables (which I presume means Acoustic Zen) connected everything.

Ernie proudly complained that he is the oldest member of the OAFS (Old Audio Farts Society). Hey, how can you argue with a guy that puts together such a fine sounding room, and is still vertical? A lot of wisdom and experience resides in this man.

Yes great pics, thanks Prelude.  That room with the four red teardrop shaped sections was interesting. I forget the name of the company.  But they said the material was carbon fibre.  Just for fun I placed my hand on each of the four sections.  There was no vibration whatsoever. It was as if they weren't playing, but I knew they were.  The sound?  Better than most rooms, but not a standout, at least when I was there.  It was the only room where I got a little trinket for visiting, some kind of cooper ender.
