The Hafler DH-110 is one of the best known “budget” preamps of all time. The phono stage is supposed to be unmatched in this price range.
Price is $275 Price Drop to $200 (but firm on that). Trade considered.
As best as I can tell, this is a factory built unit. It also appears to be a later unit, as the selector has “CD/Video” as opposed to “Aux”.
It comes with the original manual (matches the serial # of the unit, 8647804). While the manual says “assembly and operation”, all units (kit and factory assembled) came with this manual.
Most of the time these were bought and used (a lot), and most units are now in somewhat rough shape. While this unit is not perfect, it is one of (if not the) best units physically I have seen. It would easily rate a “7” on the Audiogon grading scale.
Functionally this unit appears to be excellent. Unfortunately I do not have a turntable, so have not tested the phono stage. The only operational issue I can find is a little scratchiness when pushing the tone control button. All the controls themselves are functional and without noise.
I did check the headphone jack, and it works without issue.
I got this unit from a retired tech, who went over the unit before he sent it to me. He said it had been sitting on his shelf wrapped in plastic for a large number of years (which is why it is in such nice shape).
I believe that this unit is unmodified, but I have not opened it up to check.
I dare say you could easily find a better example of this unit.
