SALE PENDING PAYMENT

Hi all,

Government shutdown forces sell off of gear I'm not using. Jim Nicholls' amps have all been reviewed favorably, built in USA. I really like this amp, great bass, tons of punch and soundstage depth. Worked really well with my 91dB speakers (DeVore Fidelity Nines).

15wpc. All point-to-point wiring, self-biasing, plug and play. See-saw circuit means even the EL84s don't need to be matched. Comes with 9 NOS tubes: two pairs of input tubes with very different sounds for rolling (Telefunken 12at7, RCA 7025), 4 Hammond EL84 (Amperex Holland), and one GE 5u4gb.

Since it is based on a Hammond organ amp chassis, it is not too big and heavy. Measures 18" x 7" x 7", but packs a punch. Looking for $500, originally $725 with all NOS tubes. Shipping and paypal fees extra from San Francisco. Local buyers welcome to listen and pick up.

Thanks,
Wilson

In response to some questions I've gotten, this amp drives the DeVore Nines cleanly through >100 dB peaks and ~90-95 dB average (using Radio Shack analog meter, C-weighted, slow response) on classical (i.e. Haitink/LSO on Brahms Symphony No. 4), and high-energy jazz (i.e. Ron Carter's Dear Miles). There is no distortion or noise from the amp, dynamic snap is still there, and soundstage retains size and depth, even though it's much too loud for my room and louder than what I'm used to. It says a lot about this little guy.

Well, why didn't you AC members snap this up earlier? I'm pretty sure it's gone by the end of the week, check should come in the mail by tomorrow, and I miss the little guy already.
