I'll take a couple of those glass rods off your hands in Vancouver... I could use a new project to keep me busy this winter.

Steve,

My father in law has sourced all the components in Vancouver, hes building one as well.

I'll get a hold of him and find out where he found the rods, bearings etc......I'll PM you.

That's perfect. A decent bill of materials will get me up and running right away.

Thanks!

how did you find the vertical tracking and overall performance of your two-rod version versus the single-rod, four bearings model...?

Guy....be patient and I'll send you an arm that will fit your P3, with no altering the table, this summer.
No trade, I'll even ship it to you free.....this is no problem. I want to build a new wand anyway, I'll just send you the
one I'm using now. The acrylic I'll send pre cut and drilled, you can sand and put it together.....like a kit.
I'll even include some carbon rods so you can build another (your own) wand.
I bought 12 tubes for 60 bucks from a glass blower....I have a few kicking around still.
A gift from one Canadian to another that doesnt have access to these materials.

I sent a "kit" for the first version...the 4 bearings on one tube...to a friend, he made a beautiful job of it.

Hi PDR and all Audio Circle members.
WOW ! With your gilft you made my day and all the following one for the balance of the year .
That's very generous of you, thanks a lot, I was not asking for anything, but since you are offering,
I would be crazy to refuse.
I sure can wait until end of 2014, I am not in a hurry, since I am stuck in Vietnam for a very long time.
When you are ready and if it's O.K. with you, I will give you the address of my wife's nephew in Seattle,
if should cost you less to send it to me and he should not pay much for custom tax.
Thanks again.

Guy 13

It should sound good with my Rega Exact mm cartridge.
(At the time a few years back, I've paid 495 USD for it.)

Perry,
Did you ever get around to that micrometer mod to adjust the arm height?

I prefer the 2 bearing dual rod for a few reasons.
It sits better on the tubes.....no chance of falling off.
I think it tracks better....but really the last 4 bearing arm worked very well.
I think it sounds better, it should sound better.....expectation bias at its finest...lol.
loosing a quarter of the tone arm weight by eliminating 2 bearings cant be a bad thing
on a mechanical arm.

No problem Guy, be patient, I work a 10/4 shift in the oil sands so I'm not home much.

You'll need a low compliance cart, not sure what the Rega is.....

No.....but I'm young.... :D

Steve I have a few things to do in the summer, a pair of X-statiks to be built...I promised Rodney
a front baffle for a pair as well....and a garage/shop to be built. But the winter months up here
are all free time so I'm hoping to figure something out.

Hi Perry and all Audio Circle members.
My father worked as an electrician in a cement quarry on 10/4 shifts
and he always told us that it was very difficult,
especially when he had to sleep during the day
with ten noisy children at home.
I supposed that the plastic cover won't fit anymore
on my Rega P3 with your linear tracking arm?
That is not a problem, but would have been nice if it would still fit.

Hi Perry and all Audio Circle members.
No problem.
I have a good choice of different material
and colors to protect from dust the turntable.
They have so much dust here in Vietnam,
that I am sure they could export it.

To fellow builders on ths forum....
The glass tubing seems to be the hardest material to find, at least it was for me.
I tried many places without much luck.
Today I found a great source in the form of a neon sign shop!  Perfect!
Different diameters, all available in 4' lengths and quite inexpensive.
I gave him an extra couple of dollars and he cut it to length(s) for me.
I suggest this to others having trouble locating this tubing.
Try a sign shop in your neighborhood.

Hi PDR.
What's up Doc.
(As per Bugs Bunny saying...)
What's following spring?
Yes, summer and what will happen during this coming summer?
Yes, a generous Canadian will send something beautiful to a less fortunate Canadian
living on planet Vietnam.
I saw that you did not post much lately,
is it because you are too busy listening
and enjoying your linear tracking arm?
One question.
I saw on your set up that you have very thin cartridge wires.
Will those be included with gift?
I my many search at the electronic market I never saw anything that small.
I could always use the wires from my Rega RB301, but I like to keep it intact for the future.
Just asking.
Early next month I will get my re-tipped Rega Exact mm cartridge,
I just hope it will mate well with the arm.
May I ask if you are working at the Arthabaska oil sands?

Here is a wire kit sold by Trans-Fi, makers of the T3Pro linear arm. It has to be really pliable to work properly on the linear arm.

Hi Guy,

I havnt posted too much lately, just cause I've not too much to say!

Yep I work in the the oil sands, but I build buildings, not in the mining business.

Cause I am only home for 4 days out of 14 I dont have much spare time....but...
I have managed to start on your arm.....the carriage and wand are almost done.

As far as wires, I'll leave that up to you.....I use wire from ear buds, it works fine and
is available everywhere. And your correct, whatever you use has to be VERY flexible.

Tic Toc, Tic Toc........LOL......I'll try and get it out soon.
