Panda: JVC makes three models of "executive" stereos, minisystems which employ the "hybrid dual digital feedback" amps. Go to
www.jvc.ca to see them. They all use the same head end, with differing speakers. If I could only get my hands on the schematics, I would happily sacrifice one of the smaller models to reassemble onto a wood board and come up with a better power supply/coupling caps/output configuration. I am itching to see what comes of optimizing/hotrodding these WONDROUS amplifiers.
Seminarian: I do have the F10. -That is for the Vandersteens in the bigger room. In fact, I have another one on the way... I use the FS-X1 with the Fostii, in the back room, a lounge. The FX120-200 series are not the AlNiCo, but trust me, that is likely next. That to me, represents the possible end of the road, in single drivers. I am familiar with what super-magnet alloys can do for sound, and I use them top (JBL) and bottom (Jensen) in a Leslie speaker for my Hammond C-3. People are scared of the price of the F200A, but would consider $750 dead cheap for a kit with crossovers. Well, those 200A's are even better because there ain't any crossovers, and F3=40Hz is a no brainer in the 40L cabinets right off the Fostex website. I have already crunched the numbers using WIN-Isd, and have come up with a floorstanding cabinet for the F200A, providing full-enough-range sound for me-in-a-condo, and may try that down the road some, tho' the FX200's make a damn strong case on their own. If you are interested, go to the Omega site and read the review of the AlNiCo F120A review. This guy is the perfect test case, with unimpeachable experience.
