Congratulations!

The 57 sounded terrific at Capital Audiofest--nice to see it out in the wild.

Some questions:

Is only the Pro version of the Bellina DAC board available as an option in the 57, or is the regular (one NOS converter) version also available?
Is it correct that an upgrade to the batteries might allow the 57 to have a higher power output in the future? (Can't recall where I picked up that idea)
How would the Bellina DAC module decide which input to use? On the stand-alone Bellina there's a selector switch on the back, but on the 57 rear I don't see one in the photo.

We can install the standard Bellina dac (non-PRO) upon request.... no problem. 

Yes, there is a way to use a higher voltage pack (and change a few parameters on the boards) to get the
same power as the Liliana Monoblocks (115 into 8 ohm, 230 into 4 ohm, and 230+ into 2-ohm).  This is something
that I hope to have by the end of the year.  This higher power integrated will start at $4995.

On the front panel is the input select switch.  When you have the Bellina dac, the order is (starting from full counter clockwise):
USB, Coac, Optical, In 1, In 2, In 3, and In4 / Phono (if you order the phonostage option).

I'm impressed by the modular design of the Sig 57, and I have a question.  Would it be possible to get the basic version of the Sig 57 and then upgrade it later with DAC and phono stages?  Or do all of those options have to be ordered at the start?

Thank you.  Yes, you can always start with a Signature 57 Integrated and later send it in for the Bellina dac and/or phonostage (and headphone stage as well)... no problem!  You simply pay the difference (and shipping).

I'd like to drive some super hungry headphones with Signature 57 and I'm totally not interested in speakers at all.

Is there a way to request the spade/banana connectors to be replaced by 3-pin XLR jack for each channel?

More importantly, could the speaker tap drive Abyss AB-1266 without damaging the headphones by any chance?

Frequency Response: 5 Hz to 28 KHz
Impedance: 46 ohms nominal (non-reactive)
Sensitivity: 85 dB
Distortion: Less than 1%; Less than 0.2% through ears most sensitive range

Just saw that someone else was driving AB-1266 with another Dual 30 watt Audio Amplifier:

Typical output impedance (measured at 1 amp, 60 Hz): 0.6 Ohms to 2.7 Ohms, depending on tube complement.
Sensitivity at 30 W output: 8 ohms: 0.4 V RMS to 0.75 V RMS, depending on tube complement and load impedance.
Input impedance: 50 kOhm

And that's pretty much half of what Signature 57 could provide;

57 watts RMS per channel into 8-ohms
115 watts RMS per channel into 4-ohms

Welcome to AC and the RWA forum!

Sure - a Signature 57 can be made with 3-pin XLR jacks.  I would put them next to the speaker output jacks (wired
in parallel with them) so you don't lose the speaker jacks, as one day you might want to power loudspeakers).

I can set the gain to what you need it to be to work best with the Abyss headphones.  They will not be damaged by
the Sig 57 as long as you do not drive them beyond their limits. 

What is your source?  Since you won't be using much battery power driving headphones, I can also add a regulated DC
output jack to perhaps feed a source component.  I can probably set the voltage from 5V to > 30V, and with plenty of
current.  This could get your whole system off the grid.

When will the 57 with tube stage be available ?

I have a boxful of 12AX7's left over from tube rolling I did years ago for a SET Opera Integrated, and I think 57 is preferable for my 86db speakers.

Your post has PERFECT timing because on Sunday, I'll be formally announcing a dual tube input stage option for the Signature 57!

Is there any sonic difference/advantage going form Sig 16 to Sig 57 other than more power either with and without the dual tube input?  Been eye-ing the 16 for my 100db/watt speakers... have the Bellina in walnut and might want the amp to match down the road.

Hi viggen,

The Signature 57 has a larger enclosure that can also fit our Bellina dac and/or Analogica phonostage.  It is also dual-mono and approx. 4x more powerful. 

But into 100db speakers (where higher power is not needed), I think the Signature 16 will get you very close in performance to the tubed Signature 57 - and with the money you save, you can upgrade things like your tubes, cables, room treatments, and still have $$$ left over for what is most important... more music!
