Hi, and welcome to Vinyl Circle.
That's an interesting proposition. To my way of thinking each one is more desirable in different ways. The motors in these are identical, although it's possible a Maestro generator is slightly better matched channel to channel, than a Virtuoso generator, but judging by resistance measurements on my Virtuoso, it might be negligible if at all. The V2 Virtuoso employs more extensive use of wood and looks like a Maestro. This might not be a good thing. It's a matter of opinion whether a Maestro is overdamped in the red hardwood body. I suspect it's more of a voicing thing with that body and stylus combination and some others don't think that at all. In this respect I believe ebony is preferred, more so on a fully wood clad version.
Of course the boron/ML stylus is usually preferred to the cheap-ass straight aluminum, bonded tipped Virtuoso stylus. The thing is, that cheap stylus also sports stronger V2 magnets. Can't say I've heard this on a CA cart, but users of both V1 and V2 versions all seem to say it's better. Considering, either stylus will wear out eventually, I'd go for the Virtuoso. You'd have the ebony body and stronger magnets if you send it to a retipper. In the mean time you can easily replace the stylus on either one and experiment, although you'd be limited in choices. See the Clearaudio - AT95 thread for more info.
