Here is my Q and A to Prima Luna

Question
"I own a PL5 Amp and am currently using KT120 with no problem. As you know Tung Sol has just or will soon be releasing a new power tube similar to the KT120. The new power tube is the KT150. Has Prima Luna been given a chance to evaluate how this tube will work with its current power amp line up?"

Answer
"No we have not had a chance to try them. We have seen them, and they are massive tubes... they may not physically fit sitting next to each other in the amp. Once the tubes are released, the engineers at PrimaLuna will likely do very thorough testing on them much the same way they did with the KT120s, but that will still be a ways off."

I have not heard much yet.

From the look of them they are quite a bit larger than a KT88, as seen in the same amp for size reference.

I have high hopes they will have the sonics and reliability I am looking for.
Then maybe some amp manufacturer will produce the amp I seek..namely a simple ,well executed , high quality design
with a single push pull pair per channel producing around 100 wpc ,  that makes no apologies to a solid state amp in regard to slam and frequency extension.
Oh, and not too expensive....
                                                                           One can dream....Greg

If you are lucky enough (like me) to find one used online and put Duelund casts in it, you will certainly fulfill your dream! Will work with new KT-150 and puts out bout a 100 watts too. TRL Stereo 100. Unlike the Ayons it's tube regulated as well!

Your not the first to extoll the virtues of TRL products to me...I will keep an eye out for one.

Good new, one amp that I`m looking for quite some time has been upgrade to V2 status. It is said to accept the new K150, but it has to be comfirm if it`s not a error.

That TRL ST 100 is an awesome amp Berto, I've heard it sing like an Angel and punch like a boxer...great catch! Good choice on the Duelund Casts too...It LOOKS like an animal! I bet it'll run the KT 150's and really take em to their limits too. Best of luck with your new "Dream amp"! Let us know.

I brought two matched pairs from partsconexion. The seems to have the lowest price around. I replace the KT-120 and they sound extremely good the first time. When I purchased the KT-120 I expected them to an improve KT-88, but I was sadly disappointed. The KT-150 is very musical, think of a winged C KT-88 with more power and the top end is very sweet, but not harsh.
If your amp can use them, start saving as you will be extremely happy.

Been running my KT-150's but don't think they are worth 2x the cost of a Preferred Series KT88
